I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has moved to the stunning Gwrych Castle, in Wales, for the 2020 series, due to lockdown restrictions.

The ITV cast, including Vernon Kay, Beverley Callard, Jordan North and Sir Mo Farah, won’t have to battle the jungle elements this year, but may have to struggle something a little more paranormal.

Russell Watson pretended to see a ghost during a task on Thursday’s episode – but it seems that is a very likely experience…

In fact, there have been many reports of strange ghostly goings on in the Grade I listed 19th Century building for years.

An employee of the castle recently stated that some guests had seen a ‘floating woman in white’, and a previous resident complained of hearing strange noises.

Honestly, we would much prefer all those creepy crawlies…

According to reports, Gwrych Castle is allegedly occupied by Winifred, Countess of Dundonald, who died back in 1924.

She was apparently one of the last occupants of the castle, and some guests suggested they have seen her figure looking through a window from an abandoned area of the home.

Yes, seriously.

It has been claimed that, in the area the ‘woman’ has been spotted, there are no floorboards, meaning it is impossible for a human to get up there.

‘A few people have claimed to have seen a floating woman in white,’ an employee of the castle, aka the new ITV set, told the Sun.

‘Ghost-hunters have also claimed to have felt the presence of her and gamekeepers. We think the Countess might be unhappy as her husband stripped the castle of valuables.

‘They certainly didn’t have a happy marriage.’

Creepy footsteps

A duty manager of the grounds also recalled a paranormal experience they encountered in 2018, on the website.

‘Terrified, I heard the chain on the main gates rattle slightly and then the footsteps began to advance towards me,’ he is thought to have said.

‘It was pitch black on the Main Terrace, and I was waiting for the electrician to finish in another part of the castle so I could lock up.

‘The footsteps grew closer and closer… and then came to a dead stop about a foot in front of me.’

Former resident left terrified

Journalist Steve Weightman lifted the lid on his experiences, after previously living in in the grounds.

Speaking about one spooky encounter, he told the Daily Post that he heard spirits singing in a bar – and had seen papers physically lifting off the ground.

‘I was clearing out in the side room, there were lots of old newspapers and bits of old wallpaper there which I’d screwed up and left by the door ready to take out the next morning,’ he claimed.

‘When I got into bed, I could hear this rustling noise in my room – I thought, what the hell is that?

‘The papers had moved about a foot off the floor and were moving up the wall. That spooked me, I was so terrified I had to get out of the room and I waited outside until it was daylight.’

He was so freaked out by the experience that he legged it, and didn’t return back to the property until it was morning.

We absolutely don’t blame him.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here continues daily, at 9pm, on ITV.
