Janet Street Porter has been slammed after suggesting Jordan North should ‘man up’, following his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here antics.
After the Radio 1 DJ threw up at the thought of abseiling down a cliff during the premiere of the ITV show, he was unsurprisingly voted to take on the first Bushtucker trial of the series on yesterday’s instalment.
The 30-year-old was seen screaming in panic and crying out for his ‘happy place’ – Burnley FC’s Turf Moor ground – as he was strapped down in a confined box, that was slowly being filled with snakes, with Shane Richie in a similar situation.
Taking aim at Jordan’s behaviour on today’s Loose Women, Janet cracked up as she watched the footage from the trials so far.
‘I can’t believe it, he’s incredible. He’s sick, he’s crying, he’s trying to put on a happy place…,’ she laughed. ‘I just had Nicole Appleton who cried and screamed.
‘He’s the winner, he’s the screamer of the last decade.’
Following a brief segment of eating eels – which the campmates had for their dinner last night and complained about – Janet said the star will be ‘weeping’ in more scenes.
‘No weeping here,’ she continued. ‘Jordan… Man up!
‘He’ll be weeping about something else tonight, tomorrow and every day for the foreseeable future.’
However, fans watching on from home didn’t agree with Janet, and blasted her use of the term ‘man up’.
Flocking to Twitter, one penned: ‘#LooseWomen What happened to letting men express themselves? What happened to mens mental health. or should they just “man up”. Jesus man how ridiculous can this show get.’
‘I can already tell Janet is going to get a lot of backlash for saying “man up” #LooseWomen,’ another predicted.
‘Kinda toxic Janet saying Jordan should “man up” [sic],’ a follower commented.
‘#LooseWomen Janet street Porter using the words “man up” regarding that Jordan lad… imagine it being the other way,’ a Twitter user wrote.
As a viewer added: ‘Constantly banging on about mental health while ripping into Jordan.
‘Love how if he was a woman they’d be sitting giving him sympathy but because he’s a man, he’s to “man up”. #LooseWomen.’
Loose Women continues on weekdays, at 12.30pm, on ITV.
