I’m A Celebrity 2020: Vernon Kay leaves fans baffled as he chooses cup of tea for final meal

Vernon Kay left fans baffled as he took on a vile, bug-filled I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! trial – so he could have a cup of tea.

The 46-year-old had to suffer through the Table of Torment for his final challenge – in a bid to win himself and campmates Giovanna Fletcher and Jordan North their starters.

He was tasked with lying flat on a table for 10 minutes, while rotten food, hundreds of bugs and cockroaches.

Speaking about what he was excited to tuck into, Tess Daly’s husband explained that he had picked a prawn cocktail for his starter, which he would be washing down with a couple of tea.

Yes, seriously, a lovely, refreshing cup of tea.

While everyone else normally goes for outlandish cocktails, or a glass of bubbles at the very least, Vernon asked for a cuppa.

Viewers watching on from home couldn’t get over his request, joking that it definitely wasn’t worth enduring hundreds of bugs for.

Flocking to Twitter, one joked: Only in the UK would you see someone go through all of that for a cuppa tea #ImACelebrity #ImaCeleb.’

A follower questioned: ‘That was not worth a cup of tea. Where’s the shots? #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity.’

‘”What drink have you gone for?”, “A cup of tea’”- Vernon is totally me. Stick the kettle on and I’ll have a brew anytime! #ImACeleb,’ a fan agreed.

While that may be true, there’s nothing a cup of tea can’t cure – especially on a very cold night in Wales.
