I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! viewers were left frustrated last weekend after three shows were cancelled in a row – but it sounds like it could have been so much worse.
Ant and Dec have appeared on This Morning, admitting that the programme ‘could have quite easily’ been pulled completely after horrendous storm damage to the set around Gwrych Castle.
Ant then went on to say that the damage from Storm Arwen almost caused the programme to be pulled completely.
He praised the ‘monumental’ efforts of the production staff who have worked ‘tirelessly’ behind the scenes to get the show back on track.
‘We could have quite easily said there’s too much damage to the production base, and that we won’t be able to get back on air,’ Ant said.
‘But the production team have worked around the clock. The team have been magnificent and they’ve got us back in.’
‘The castle is the one thing that has been absolutely fine,’ he added. ‘The only reason we took the celebrities out of there, was that we felt it was just mean to keep them in there. We can’t film with them and we can’t do trials with them.’
Dec also went on to say that the production team had saved the show with their work, and praised the ‘monumental effort’.
The presenter also went on to say that the ‘magnificent production team’ had saved the show with their work, and praised the ‘monumental effort’.
Stars have been self isolating after leaving Gwrych Castle over the weekend, with the live shows being replaced by pre-recorded programmes on Saturday and Sunday.
The programme is back tonight, though, with a statement from ITV reading: ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will return from tomorrow night (Tuesday 30th November) on ITV and ITV Hub with a brand new show.
‘Ant & Dec will be back presenting live from the Castle.’
I’m A Celebrity will return to ITV tonight at 9pm.
