I’m A Celebrity 2021: Richard Madeley says ‘final farewell’ to ‘beloved’ wife Judy Finnigan as he joins line-up

Richard Madeley has spoken out from the other side – the other side being quarantine – as he prepares to enter the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here castle.

The TV presenter was finally confirmed for the I’m A Celeb 2021 line-up alongside Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, Emmerdale actor Danny Miller, and Premier League footballer David Ginola to name a few.

He has since sent a video in to his colleagues at Good Morning Britain while holed up in a pretty Welsh cottage.

‘I’m in quarantine, I’ve been in quarantine for about 10 days now which many of you have been in quarantine – oh God, it’s boring. I’d welcome any trial or something to do,’ he said in the clip.

‘It’s very pretty though, I’m on a Welsh farm kind of like a little cottage here so nice views and all the rest of it [but] I just want to get started.’

Panning to his bulky new boots, Richard added: ‘Why we have to wear jungle boots when we’re in a castle I can’t guess – unless it’s to keep the rats out.

‘There are ghosts as well in the castle apparently, that’ll be fun.’

In a special message to wife Judy Finnigan and children Chloe and Jack, he continued: ‘Anyway my lips are sealed beyond that, I want to say a final bye bye to my beloved wife Judy, bye Judy, bye kids, see you on the other side. Wish me luck.’

Chloe’s husband James Haskell also sent a special video message to his father-in-law and said: ‘It’s me, your favourite son-in-law…

‘Good luck in the jungle, you’ll absolutely smash it. We’re all proud of you, be yourself, enjoy it, have fun, keep smiling, and we’ll be cheering from back home.’

Richard, 65, implored the public to vote for him to do the trials ahead of the show’s launch. Viewers can now vote for who they want to compete in the first trial using the programme’s app, with the vote closing at 8pm on Tuesday and Richard has put himself forward.

‘I really hope I do get voted for the trials,’ he enthused. ‘The thing about this programme is you mustn’t go into it if you take yourself remotely seriously.

‘I don’t and I am thoroughly looking forward to being covered in God knows what! You have to be prepared for people to laugh and I see this as a bloody great romp of fun!’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here 2021 debuts on Sunday, while Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
