Good Morning Britain’s Richard Madeley has hinted that he could be returning to I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! for the heavily rumoured all-stars spin-off.
The ITV presenter famously appeared on the competition show last year, however, was forced to quit after being rushed to hospital and breaking the Covid bubble.
After being probed by entertainment reporter Richard Arnold during Monday’s programme about whether he’d do the series again, Madeley teased he has ‘unfinished business’.
‘I had this funny turn, I got dehydrated as it turned out and so that meant I broke the covid bubble as they insisted I went to hospital and they wouldn’t let me back in because of Covid, that was the only reason,’ he said of his exit.
‘I have to say, it does feel like unfinished business,’ Madeley continued. ‘On the other hand, I have a motto “never go back, just keep moving forward.” I’m not sure.’
He then asked his co-stars for their thoughts on whether he should return… but the conversation swiftly moved on.
After his I’m A Celebrity exit, Madeley told presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: ‘I feel as fit as a fiddle and I am fit as a fiddle.
‘And you know if it wasn’t for Covid I’d be back there sort of eating rice and beans.
‘(Covid) is still biting our bums, isn’t it? What happened was I had just a funny little turn quite sort of late in the morning. ITV are so good with duty of care. They were adamant.
‘They said, “No, we have to make sure that you’re OK.” I said, “But I am OK.” They said, “We have to make sure.”
‘So, I went to the local hospital – I was only in there for about an hour-and-a-half – I was given really thorough checks and I was given a completely clean bill of health. No matter what you might have read, I’m absolutely fine.’
Madeley also admitted he had hung around briefly at the hospital after being discharged in order to get a large cup of tea and a bacon sandwich.
‘That was my first port of call… it was amazing,’ he said.
‘I ate hospital food, exactly… as I say, if it wasn’t for Covid, I’d still be in the game. I’m gutted. I’m gutted, I really am.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is set to return to ITV later this year.
