I’m A Celeb has begun with a bang, with campmates winning their first meals following a series of bug-filled bushtucker trials.
All eyes were on Nigel Farage, 59, and Jamie Lynn Spears, 32, as they made their jungle debut, with the latter skydiving right into the show.
With these casting selections, this year’s lineup has raised a lot of questions, and This Morning’s Josie Gibson, 38, wasn’t about to let the elephant in the room go unnoticed.
Probing Jamie Lynn, Britney Spears‘ estranged sister, she casually questioned who ‘started her into music’.
Many expected this to spark a discussion about the Lucky singer in light of her recent bombshell biography The Woman in Me, but that was not the case.
Jamie Lynn sidestepped the question and responded: ‘I’ve always kind of been into music, you know what I mean?’
Not letting her get away that easily, Josie asked: ‘You’ve got a very musical family, haven’t you?’
To this, the Zoey 101 star agreed, but seemed to snub her sister when she replied, ‘My mum played the piano a lot,’ in response to Josie’s question about her grandmother.
Despite Jamie Lynn’s efforts to deny the link, fans burst out laughing every time someone referred to her as Britney Spears’ sister.
Jamie Lynn’s relationship with her famous sister is known to be poor, and this apparent snub looks to validate those allegations.
Britney’s younger sister did not appear to be supportive of her throughout her rocky conservatorship.
Fans were outraged when the former Nickelodeon star was listed as a covert trustee of Britney’s financial interests.
Jamie Lynn was accused of attempting to get greater control over the singer’s money after appearing to respond to the Free Britney movement.
Britney directly addressed the feud in 2021, saying: ‘I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes !!!!! My so-called support system hurt me deeply.
In her memoir, the Circus hitmaker addressed the relationship and wrote: ‘My sister and I should have found comfort in each other, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case. As I was fighting the conservatorship and receiving a lot of press attention, she was writing a book capitalising on it.
‘She rushed out salacious stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous. I was really let down.’
Later in The Woman in Me, Britney seemed to sympathise with her younger sister’s situation and shared: ‘My heart goes out to her for all those reasons.’
Britney added: ‘She will always be my sister, and I love her and her beautiful family. I wish the absolute best for them. She’s been through a lot, including teen pregnancy, divorce, and her daughter’s near-fatal accident.
‘She’s spoken about the pain of growing up in my shadow. I’m working to feel more compassion than anger toward her, and everyone who I feel has wronged me. It’s not easy.’
I’m A Celebrity continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
