I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! viewers were left slightly confused at the Avengers reference during the latest bushtucker trial.

Sunday night’s episode saw the ladies, including Victoria Derbyshire, Giovanna Fletcher and Jessica Plummer, take on the absolutely grim Bar-Baric trial to win stars for camp.

The camp mates were handcuffed to a bar while fish guts, offal and slime rained down on their heads.

They they had to search through the disgusting mush to find keys that would free them and allow them to collect stars from boxes on the other side of the room.

The stars were guarded by Castle Critters in each box with the ladies having to stick their hands among spiders, snakes and rats to name a few.

When journalist Victoria stepped up to take her go, the show played Alan Silvestri’s theme from the superhero blockbuster The Avengers (or Avengers Assemble in the UK).

It was certainly a far cry from Captain America and his pals bringing the pain to Thanos.

Fans of both superheroes and celebs in slime appreciated the music choice.

Viewers saw Victoria gamely free herself from fish gut hell but sadly ran out of time before she made it to the other side to collect her stars.

Standing in front of hosts Ant and Dec and coated in slop from head to toe, she quipped: ‘This is why I got into journalism.’

The episode also saw Jordan North named as the camp’s first leader, and his picked Victoria as his deputy.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
