Kate Chastain has addressed speculation that Captain Lee Rosbach is leaving Below Deck.
The beloved captain has been a staple of the main series since it first set sail in 2013, and has been dubbed ‘stud of the sea’ by fans.
However, it was claimed that there will be some changes to the upcoming series – which lands on November 21 – with the 72-year-old thought to be stepping back from his duties.
The trailer for season 10 didn’t do much to squash fears, as he could be seen making an emotional announcement to the cast, leaving many in tears.
Appearing on Brandi Glanville’s Unfiltered podcast, Kate – who had some choice words on the Below Deck Med cast – was questioned about the rumormill and whether there is any truth in the claims.
‘He’s always coming back. Captain Lee will probably be on Below Deck for as long as the show is on,’ the former chief stewardess explained.
‘There is a saying that every good captain goes down with the ship and metaphorically Captain Lee would do that.’
‘Coming up on the new season of Below Deck – airing this fall on Bravo – there is a change that happens, that has never happened before in prior seasons,’ she cryptically continued.
‘Captain Lee may or may not be the captain some of the time.’
However, Kate remained tight-lipped over what exactly the changes would be, or where he would be going if he’s not the captain ‘some of the time.
We need answers, ASAP.
The Bravo icon served as chief stew for six years, before leaving at the end of season seven, and had maintained a strong friendship with Captain Lee in that time.
Speaking in the podcast, she revealed that their bond has held up off camera, and that they speak often.
When asked if they still keep in touch, Kate added: ‘They live in Fort Lauderdale and they’re amazing, him and his wife, they have me over for dinner.
‘It’s like having an extra set of parents down there. He calls me once a week, twice a week.
‘I talk to him all the time.’
Someone needs to get us an invite to those dinners…
Below Deck is airs on Bravo in the US and is available to stream on in the UK.
