ITV Hub has issued an apology after Love Island fans complained they were unable to watch last night’s episode due a widespread network failure.

A number of banks, streaming sites and the PlayStation Network were offline following a global outage, with the issue appearing to have begun playing havoc at around 5pm this afternoon.

During the outage, the ITV Hub stopped frustrated users from accessing any of its content across its website and apps.

‘We are aware of an issue preventing you from being able to sign in or watch across our website and apps,’ ITV said in a statement shared on social media.

‘Unfortunately, this is a widespread issue with our content delivery network provider, but our teams are working away to fix this ASAP. Apologies for any inconvenience.’

Many users vented their annoyance at the glitch on Twitter, with one writing: ‘Is your app working ok @itvhub?? I know there’s serious things going on in the world but I can’t catch up with @LoveIsland.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘ITV hub is down! @itvhub please fix so I don’t have to keep avoiding spoilers from last night’s #LoveIsland all over the internet!’

Luckily, ITV Hub users didn’t have too long to wait before the error was resolved.

‘The issue with our content delivery network provider has been resolved and our services are back up and running!’ a later statement read.

‘Please make sure you refresh your browser or app and you should be good to go. Thanks for your patience everyone!’

Tracking website DownDetector logged tens of thousands of reports from users of dozens of popular apps and websites.

More than 20,000 gamers have complained that the PlayStation Network, which lets PS4 and PS5 owners play online, is down.
