Jackie Weaver probed on calls to take over as prime minister and her response is everything you want and more

Jackie Weaver has addressed whether she would ever consider becoming prime minister, revealing what she would change first if she took on the job.

Last week, Jackie became an online sensation when a chaotic Zoom call she was running for Handforth Parish Council went viral.

After the council chair Brian Tolver told her – in the now-famous line – that she didn’t ‘have the authority’, Jackie removed him from the chat and placed him in a virtual waiting room, infuriating the vice chair who proceeded to shout at her to ‘read the standing orders’.

Jackie has been praised by many for maintaining her composure during the overheated exchange, with some even calling on her to become prime minister.

During an appearance on Wednesday’s edition of Loose Women, presenter Ruth Langsford asked whether she would ever be interested in taking over the position currently held by Boris Johnson.

‘Well, I would have to unchain myself from the railings to do it properly,’ Jackie joked.

When Ruth questioned her on what she would want to change first as part of her manifesto, Jackie quoted one of the memorable lines from the council meeting, which has been watched by millions around the world.

‘Well, we’d have to introduce standing orders, that’s for sure,’ prompting the Loose Women panel to burst into laughter.

Earlier this week, Jackie appeared on Good Morning Britain where she was challenged by Piers Morgan over whether she did indeed have the authority in the council meeting.

‘Who had the authority? Have you worked out who had the authority in that meeting?’ the broadcaster asked.

Jackie was confident in her response, stating: ‘I have always been very clear about who had authority in that meeting… me.’

When Piers later asked again whether she actually had authority in the meeting or whether she was ‘chancing [her] luck’, she replied: ‘Maybe the truth is part way between the two options, Piers… The legislation isn’t entirely clear on how we handle those.

‘We hadn’t actually started the meeting yet… really we were a group of people in a virtual room and is it appropriate for someone to totally interrupt the meeting the way he did?’

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
