This Morning descended into chaos today as James May’s blender exploded in the middle of the kitchen.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who had already narrowly avoided a light dropping on Matthew Wright’s head earlier in the episode, got the giggles during the segment when the Saturday Kitchen chef covered the set in cauliflower soup.
Showing off the winter dish to keep you warm during the colder nights, things went awry when he moved the simmering pan of cauliflower over to a processor.
Under the pressure of live TV, he didn’t secure the lid enough, and the soup went flying around the room as soon as the machine was turned on.
Thankfully, James came prepared and brought out another batch from under the counter.
‘You’re having a really good day aren’t you?!’ laughed Holly, to which James blamed the producer giving him a timed countdown in his ear throwing him off.
‘When you do the Saturday show you’re used to chilling out in your home you get as much time as you want,’ he said.
‘What I’ve got is a director in my ear telling me I’ve got seven minutes, now I’ve got six minutes, now I’ve got five minutes.’
Eventually he opted to ignore the production team and keep his segment going.
Phillip then poured salt in the wound by asking him about the ‘skidmark’ that was on top of the dish once it was served up.
Though it was cauliflower butter, James had a strop and refused to tell Phillip and Holly, who couldn’t stop giggling.
At least the dish actually turned out quite well in the end!
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
