James Martin joked he’s been overindulging as he trousers split live on air.
The celebrity chef was teasing This Morning viewers about his desserts, including fudge and an incredibly tempting chocolate fudge cake, when he said he’s ‘eating too much’.
Chatting to James on the ITV daytime show, presenter Phillip Schofield quipped: ‘What people don’t realise is he’s actually wheels on the bottom of his feet and people just wheel him around.’
The chef saw the funny side and quickly revealed he’d actually suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction when he was bending down to look at the oven in the This Morning kitchen.
‘I’ve just split my trousers, I know that, bending down here! I have genuinely split my trousers,’ he laughed. ‘I need to stop eating!’
Phil’s co-host Holly Willoughby joked: ‘All in the name of research.’
James always bring a bit of humour to the show – and at least this time he didn’t storm off.
Back in December 2020, James was left hanging when a caller playing the Spin To Win game struggled to guess his name.
Viewer Raj got the chance to play and after correctly saying the phrase of the day, he won a further £750 by Holly and Phil spinning the wheel.
To bag a further prize, Raj had to name the chef that would be cooking on that day’s show.
Raj’s mind went blank which could mean either he hadn’t been watching along or he genuinely couldn’t remember who the TV chef was.
James prepped his dish nearby waiting for his name to be said, and as the awkward silence continued the Saturday Kitchen star pretended to storm off set.
Holly tried her best to help the viewer out by giving him clues, as she said: ‘Can you see your telly? Let me give you a clue – the first name is the same name as 007.’
Raj correctly guessed ‘James’ however he struggled with his surname making Phil slump down in his seat in frustration.
It got to the point where Phil had to yell the answer at the camera while Holly instructed Raj to ‘just say “Martin”!’
Luckily he did, and he managed to bag himself a giant This Morning bauble to hang on the Christmas tree, a tote bag and some other goodies.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
