Jamie Oliver’s Great Cookbook Challenge was cancelled after only one season.
The famous chef hosted the seven-part series last year, which followed 18 cooks as they battled for a book publishing contract and the release of their own cookbooks.
Jamie, 47, had 25 cookbooks under his belt by the time the show debuted in early 2022, and he guided the competitors, with Dominique Woolf being chosen the final winner.
However, it is now rumoured that it has been axed by broadcaster Channel 4.
‘Bosses have decided to leave Great Cookbook Challenge at one series,’ a source said.
‘They’re proud of the show and will be continuing to work with Jamie on other shows currently in the pipeline,’ they added when speaking to The Sun.
Throughout the series, participants pitched their book concepts and signature dishes before cooking and sending their creations to testers.
Dominique triumphed with her Asian-inspired cuisine ideas, and her book came out last summer.
Jamie said ahead of the show’s premiere that his first cookbook was created from recipes scrawled on the ‘back of cigarette packs and beer mats’ left in a rubbish bag.
Jamie was preparing to issue a cookbook with his popular 1999 TV series The Naked Chef after penning down ideas on the back of odd objects such as order checks.
He added that after signing the original book agreement, he began learning about the publishing industry, even living in the Penguin headquarters and dressing shops windows to advertise his recipes.
While Jamie has other cooking shows in the works, he did express interest in hosting Blind Date this week.
‘I love a bit of love and there needs to be more in the world,’ he told The Sun.
‘Everything’s gone all Tinder, Grindr and Hinge. It’s too easy, too convenient.’
He said that if given the chance, he would ‘gladly’ front the dating show.
Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver is streaming on All4.
