Jenna Ortega may be the background on many admirers’ phones, but it turns out her own features an unexpected star.
The 20-year-old actress began her career as a child actor before starring in the second season of You and then as Wednesday Addams in the enormously successful Netflix series of the same name.
Her star has been rising swiftly, and she just attended the Met Gala.
While her attire drew a lot of attention, a minor detail that was seen has also had a lot of people talking.
Jenna was speaking with fans as she made her way inside the event, and others were filming their conversations.
Those who scrolled through after noticing her phone screen featuring none other than Wednesday co-star Emma Myers soon saw something unexpected.
Emma portrayed Wednesday’s lively werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair in the series.
Fans couldn’t get enough of it after seeing it.
‘Oh my god that’s co cute,’ one person posted on social media.
‘Best friend goals,’ someone else said.
Another added: ‘Emma and Jenna are the ultimate. Nothing beats having your bestie as your lockscreen! Adorable!’
Forming a close friendship since appearing on the series together, Jenna previously called Emma an ‘amazing scene partner’.
‘It was mostly just the two of us goofing around,’ she said when appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast.
‘We’re still really good friends and we have a great relationship in real life. I’m really glad that we got to be together.
‘She’s one of my closest friends. I think we have a different dynamic off screen, but I still don’t think it’s any less important or deep or beautiful than Enid and Wednesday’s.’
While the couple has grown close off camera, fans’ hopes for their characters to build a love relationship on screen have so far been dashed.
Emma stated earlier this year that after all of the turmoil of the first season, Wednesday wanted some alone time.
‘We haven’t really spoken about direction at all, so I don’t really know what the game plan is for anything,’ she said.
‘As far as love interests go for Wednesday, I feel like at least for a second season, she needs to take her season of singleness,’ she added when speaking to Variety.
In an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March, Jenna then said she wanted her character to ‘get out of the romantic situation and be her own individual and fight her own crime’.
Wednesday is streaming on Netflix.
