Jeremy Clarkson reacted to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Viewers chastised him for making a ‘unbelievable’ gaffe.
The 63-year-old broadcaster, who previously faced criticism for giving a competitor the wrong answer after using a lifeline, dropped another surprise on Sunday night’s episode of the ITV game show.
Ivo Yordanov turned to Jeremy for help after being assigned a question on a British politician that might have rewarded him £8,000.
The question was, ‘What job was Mark Drakeford reappointed to in 2021?’
His other options were Attorney General, First Minister of Wales, Head of the Civil Service, and First Minister of Northern Ireland, although Jeremy had ‘never heard’ of him.
Ivo chose to use his Phone A buddy lifeline, but his buddy was equally baffled, so he had to use his 50/50 lifeline to take a gamble, which thankfully paid out.
However, fans couldn’t believe that no one, including Jeremy, knew who the politician was.
‘Unbelievable that Jeremy Clarkson doesn’t know who Mark Drakeford is,’ wrote on viewer, with another adding: ‘The contestant, Jeremy Clarkson and the phone a friend had all never heard of Mark Drakeford.’
A third person asked: ‘Flipping heck, Jeremy Clarkson has never heard of Mark Drakeford? Has he been living under a rock?’
While yet another viewer wondered: ‘What is Jeremy Clarkson on tonight?! First he didn’t have a clue who Mark Drakeford is, and then he thought Gosforth is in Leeds!’
Others pointed out that the Top Gear and Grand Tour host recently referred to Drakeford’s farming policy as ‘absolutely dumb’ on X.
Jeremy turned to social media during the roasting to insist on a simple explanation for his apparent knowledge gap.
‘To be clear,’ he tweeted. ‘This Millionaire was recorded more than a year ago. I know who Drakeford is now.!!!’
One week previously, things weren’t any better for Jeremy, as fans were left’screaming’ at the television as he made another mistake on the Faroe Islands.
He informed participant Segun that he was certain they were in the Arctic Ocean rather than the Atlantic, and the audience couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
‘Everyone screaming Atlantic at the telly,’ one fan tweeted, while a second viewer fumed: ‘YOU’RE WRONG JEREMY!’
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? airs Sunday nights at 8pm on ITV1.
