After acknowledging that his ‘body doesn’t operate the way it used to,’ Jeremy Clarkson has released yet another troubling health report.
The Clarkson’s Farm presenter, 63, has said that he has difficulty walking long distances and has no idea how anyone, much alone him, can get in 10,000 steps every day.
‘When I hear that a man of my age should do 10,000 steps a day, I think: “Right, how on earth would I find the time to do that?”‘
He continued: ‘When I [walk with my son], he pootles along at what people call walking pace and to keep up I have to unleash my inner [Roger] Bannister.’
Walks with Finlo, 26, apparently leave Clarkson ‘coughing up my spleen and trying to get my breath back’, adding to his already worrying health concerns.
To deal with these recent issues, the former BBC broadcaster has resolved to make changes to boost his general health and get back into fighting shape.
He stated that by increasing his walking pace by just 0.1mph, he might significantly minimise his risk of acquiring type 2 diabetes.
Despite his efforts to make these improvements, Clarkson is dissatisfied with the health and medical industry’s continual revisions to its advise.
‘One minute, tomatoes give you cancer, the next they protect your brain… Then there’s red meat. On Tuesday it’s carcinogenic, the next morning it’s a vital source of iron,’ he wrote in his column for The Sunday Times.
The former Top Gear host, along with Richard Hammond and James May, stood away from The Grand Tour last month after recording an impending last episode.
And, as the Amazon series nears its finish, Clarkson has disclosed that he has been suffering from hearing loss, which may raise his risk of dementia.
‘I was told after my most recent medical that hearing loss will double the chance of me catching dementia. Maybe it’s already happening,’ he said last month.
Clarkson’s Farm has been extended for a fourth season on Amazon, so it looks he’ll be continuing his farming at Diddly Squat.
Last month, Prime Video CEO Fozia Khan announced that another series was in the works.
