Hailee Steinfeld was officially announced as Kate Bishop in the upcoming Disney Plus show, Hawkeye on Thursday as co-star Jeremy Renner shared birthday wishes for her.
Steinfeld joining Hawkeye as Kate Bishop has been one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, having been spotted filming in New York this month, where she and Renner had been pictured on set together in costume.
However, official confirmation of Steinfeld’s role didn’t land until last night during Disney’s Investor Day.
The announcement coincided with the star’s 24th birthday, which saw her taking to Instagram to share a snap of her in full Kate Bishop attire.
In the message, she said:’Incredibly excited to officially share this with the world…’
Steinfeld is seen in the character’s iconic purple get-up, with her signature bow and arrow slung across her back.
Co-star and on-screen mentor Renner also took the social media platform and wished Steinfeld a happy birthday, sharing another image of the two in gear.
As of now, little is known about the storyline of the show, but Kate Bishop has most famously acted as Clint Barton’s protege.
Bishop has been popping up a lot in popular media, with the character also recently added to the Marvel’s Avengers video game.
Alongside the announcement, Disney confirmed that the show will be landing on its streaming service in late 2021, with Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon and Brian d’Arcy James also starring.
It was an exceptionally busy night for Disney who announced a truckload of new shows across many of its franchises. If you’d like to get the lowdown on the biggest ones, check out our breakdown here.Credit: Original article published here.
