Johnny Vaughan has returned to the Big Breakfast house for the first time in 19 years.

It comes as the house, where the daytime TV show was filmed, goes up for sale for a cool £5.75million 20 years on from when it last aired.

Presenter Johnny used to front the Channel 4 programme from 1997 to 2001 alongside Denise Van Outen and Kelly Brook.

On his Radio X programme Johnny went back to the property, located on Bow, East London, and reminisced about his time as The Big Breakfast anchor.

Some of his highlights include the time late music legend David Bowie joined in as a member of the crew for the Christmas special, and when Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks spray painted his jacket.

On his ’emotional’ visit the TV star said the house looks more ‘beautiful’ than how he remembers it.

He said: ‘So many great memories, but it’s kind of hard to connect it with the house that’s here now because it’s just so beautiful and so enclosed.

‘When I was here, you really had the sense of just canal and two cottages.

‘Being here today reminds me a bit like when I drove past a school I used to go to and the woodwork and metal work-shops have now been turned into these quite luxurious properties, they’d been converted, and I get the same sense that in both this building and that building, places where perhaps we weren’t meant to have that much fun, but we really did. So, quite an emotional visit, in its way.’

Recalling the Tom Hanks incident, Johnny shared: ‘He actually sprayed his name on it, which I thought was quite dog-like at the time. I suddenly thought “that’s really, like, top dog behaviour”. Spraying me with yellow spray on my clothing, you know?

‘It’s like, down here, I don’t know, I get our careers have taken different paths, but at that time, I really feel I had him on the run.’

He no longer owns the jacket Tom sprayed as it got a bit ‘ropey’ and he chucked it out. Shame, he could have made a killing at auction…

The 4,600 square foot house, sold by estate agent Blake Stanley, is historically three separate Lock Keepers cottages and is made up of three floors boasting six bedrooms, a roof terrace and a swimming pool.

Segments were filmed all over the property including one called On My Bed hosted by the late Paula Yates, and Johnny’s From Me Shed, Son.

The Big Breakfast, which ended in 2002, is being rebooted by Channel 4 for a one-off special with Mo Gilligan.

As part of the broadcaster’s Black Takeover day he will be joined by a host of other Black talent and emerging stars.
