Justin Bieber wows fans with first UK TV performance in five years on Comic Relief

Justin Bieber made his first UK TV appearance in five years for a special performance on Comic Relief.

The singer, 27, performed his new song Hold On, filmed in the USA due to the travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, in order to support the charity in raising vital funds.

Justin’s pared-back performance impressed fans watching from home, who took to Twitter to share their joy at seeing him back on British television at long last.

They wrote: ‘Defo not crying about Justin Bieber performing on comic relief’ and ‘You killed it on comic relief omg unreal’.

Others added: ‘he was so good on comic relief ahhhh’ and ‘I cannot believe Justin Bieber is in comic relief.’

After he was announced to perform on the show, Justin said: ‘I’m looking forward to performing on Comic Relief this Friday and being a part of such a great night for a charitable cause. I hope everyone enjoys the show!’

Hold On is from Justin’s new album Justice, which he said is an ode to his wife. Hailey Baldwin.

He also recently told Billboard that he changed his life around after some difficult years, explaining: ‘I just changed my priorities so that I didn’t [become] another statistic of young musicians that ended up, like, not making it.

‘There was a time where I really did have my identity wrapped up in my career, but I really do have an overflow of feeling like my purpose is to use my music to inspire.’

While Comic Relief looked slightly different to previous years due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the show still had a stellar line-up of sketches and celebrity guests.

The event, to celebrate Red Nose Day, is raising money to support people in the UK and around the world.

The causes the charity supports help to tackle hunger, homelessness, domestic abuse and mental health stigma among others.
