Kate Garraway ‘so embarrassed’ as phone alarm goes off twice mid-interview on Good Morning Britain

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway was left red-faced on today’s show when her phone alarm went off on two separate occasions as she spoke to studio guests about the latest headlines.

The presenter and her co-host Ben Shephard had been looking through the morning’s papers with Jacqui Smith and Iain Dale when her mobile sounded much to her surprise.

A confused Kate quickly attempted to turn the alert off but was rudely interrupted once again 10 minutes later as the group started to talk about what makes a successful COP26.

As the alarm blasted out for the second time, Kate exclaimed: ‘Oh for goodness sake, I’m really sorry. What the hell is going on? Oh my God.’

‘Shall we just remove it from the studio?’ she continued, as Ben called for the studio manager to come and take it from her.

‘How many alarms have I set?’ a puzzled Kate added. ‘I’m blaming the kids, there was another one set for 6.45am.’

‘You really should be somewhere, Kate Garraway!’ Ben joked.

Kate then confirmed she had switched off all of her alarms admitting she was ‘so embarrassed’ by all of the chaos.

Kate shares two children, Darcey and William, with her husband Derek Draper, who went into hospital last year after catching coronavirus.

She recently opened up about Derek’s situation saying it is ‘still pretty active’ adding there is ‘a lot of intensity’ as she tries to manage her family life.

Talking to the PA News Agency ahead of her BBC Two walking programme, she continued: ‘I think it’s the first time I’ve been on my own since Derek was sick, really, because in between that I’m sort of flitting between working and children and going to the hospital when Derek was in hospital and being at home with him now he’s at home.

‘To go for a walk just for its own sake, on your own, is an indulgence that I really enjoyed taking the time to do.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
