Katherine Ryan’s dating show Ready To Mingle premiered last night on ITV2 and if the ratings are to go by it’s off to a rocky start.
The debut episode of ‘this Bachelorette with a twist’ was only watched live by 120,000 viewers last night, according to Broadcast now.
While having the first six episodes all released on ITV Hub might have detracted some viewers from the live broadcast, the numbers are still extremely low.
Ready To Mingle is looking to fill the Love Island shaped hole by taking over the same timeslot and daily episodes schedule.
But the 2million people who on average watched every single episode of Laura Whitmore’s show, might have had enough of it for a while.
Ready To Mingle is going to be on for another 18 episodes with ITV not currently mentioning any plans to pull it from the schedules.
Hopefully, fans will gravitate to this new original premise which follows one girl whose got the attention of 12 lads – but they’re not all single.
With a £25,000 cash prize on the line, 24-year-old Sophia will have to thread carefully as the boys all vie for her attention.
Some of the guys will receive the help of their real-life partners in order to win over Sophia and if they make it to the end, she won’t see a penny.
Viewers watching at home last night already figured out a major flaw with the series: ‘What happens when your partner falls for the person on the show? I could never,’ wrote one person on Twitter.
‘What kind of girlfriend would let their man go on a show like this is £25,000 really worth watching your man technically cheat on you #readytomingle,’ added a second commenter.
A third viewer added: “The biggest plot twist would be if someone who is taken falls in love with her for real. #readytomingle.”
Speaking about Ready to Mingle, host Ryan recently said: ‘I am so excited to be a part of this new dating game show. How could I say no? It’s like nothing we’ve seen before but still with all the drama and dating dilemmas we love to see, and I’ll be there front row as it all unfolds!’
Ready to Mingle airs weeknights at 9pm on ITV2.
