Katie Piper was extremely relatable on Friday’s episode of Loose Women as she admitted to an embarrassing occurrence at the gym just ahead of the show.
Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, Sunetra Sarker and Katie discussed confrontation in light of their fellow panellist Frankie Bridges’ argument with Naughty Boy over rice on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me out of Here!
As Katie openly admitted to being someone who avoids confrontation, telling Kaye that she would ‘weep on the floor’ if she confronted her about something, Nadia encouraged her to tell a pretty mortifying story involving confrontation from that very morning.
Explaining that she had gone to a new ‘really posh gym’ where there were products out on the side for visitors to use, the 38-year-old revealed that she was ready to make the most of that.
‘I was a bit like, ‘Oh, I’m going to use everything’ because this is quite exciting!’
Admitting to being ‘like a tee-pee in a changing room’ with her towel as a shy gym-goer, she continued: ‘I just thought I’ll get a bit of serum, SPF, take it all the way down to here’, gesturing to her front.
However, her excitement was short-lived.
The model explained: ‘This woman kept hovering around me, and I just thought, ‘She’s been here a while now, I feel like she’s going to ask me a favour or something’, and then all of a sudden she said to me, “Can I have my stuff back?”’
As her colleagues burst into laughter, Katie said: ‘I was there, soaking wet hair on top of my head, naked with my towel, rubbing her serum all down my chest!’
Discussing how embarrassed she was, the mum-of-two said she ‘didn’t even explain herself’ as she handed the woman’s toiletries back to her.
‘I’m changing gyms and stopping exercise!’ she declared.
Katie’s tale struck a chord with viewers too, who appreciated her honesty, as well as the awkwardness of the situation.
As one called it a ‘brilliant story’, another could only tweet her mortification on Katie’s behalf.
‘Omg she was using the woman’s products’, they wrote.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
