Katy Perry has revealed the unexpected ways being a pop star helped to prepare her for the challenge of motherhood.
Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show saw the Firework hitmaker step in as a guest host, and she had the audience in stitches as she opened up about changes in her life since giving birth.
The 37-year-old, who welcomed her first child with actor Orlando Bloom in August 2020, gushed about life as a mother to daughter Daisy Dove.
‘I had a baby girl. Her name is Daisy and she recently turned one, it’s so sweet,’ the American Idol judge stated. ‘So so proud to be her mother. It’s an experience unlike any other.’
The Teenage Dream singer continued: ‘Now that I’m a mom my life is totally different and yet I realized, it’s kind of similar to being a pop star.
‘You’re up all night, usually holding a bottle of some kind, there’s vomit on the floor, and your boobs are always out.’
She does have a point!
Earlier this year, at nine months, the singer revealed that Daisy had hit two big milestones in her development.
Back in May, Katy told Ryan Seacrest: ‘She’s crawling and she has one tooth. It’s barely poked through though.
‘Actually it’s kind of like one of my teeth. I have pretty good teeth on the top but if you were to actually see my bottom teeth, they’re a little interesting, but I think that’s character!’
Though the singer and her fiancé have chosen to keep their daughter out of the public eye so far, Katy has been open about the impact Daisy’s birth has had on her life over the past year.
As she celebrated Daisy’s first birthday in August, the Roar hitmaker tweeted: ‘1 year ago today is the day my life began… Happy first Birthday my Daisy Dove, my love.’
