Kim Cattrall gives full approval of backlash to ‘trashy’ Sex and The City reboot And Just Like That in savage tweet

While reviews of And Just Like That have been mixed, Kim Cattrall is unsurprisingly here for critics calling the Sex and The City reboot that she turned down ‘trashy’.

Cattrall famously starred as PR mogul Samantha Jones in Sex and The City for all six seasons and the subsequent movies.

However, she refused to join her fellow cast mates Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis for HBO Max’s divisive revival, which has been welcomed by fans nostalgic for Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte and panned by those who can’t get over the absence of Samantha or get on board with its very desperate attempts to fix Sex and The City’s diversity issue.

Regardless, Cattrall has been busy filming whatever other reboots have come her way, starring in the revival of Queer As Folk and How I Met Your Mother spin-off, How I Met Your Father which launched last night.

While Cattrall celebrated the premiere of HIMYF like a queen with a glass of bubbles in one hand and her dog cradled in the other, fans praised CBS sitcom also starring Hilary Duff.

One fan in particular was very glad to see Cattrall back on screens, and shaded And Just Like That while praising her idol for joining How I Met Our Father instead.

And Cattrall was living for it, liking the post which read: ‘So proud of @KimCattrall for skipping the trashy S&TC reboot and doing @HIMYFonHulu.

‘She’s wonderful, and so is @HilaryDuff. If you have 48 minutes to spare, go ahead and watch the first two episodes…I may even rewatch them before next week. Challenge accepted!’

Cattrall previously liked a tweet from a fan who refused to watch And Just Like That without her in it, while her former co-star Nixon said she ‘loves’ the way Samantha was written out after Carrie explained the friends had fallen out over her upcoming book campaign.

‘I really love it, I think it’s great – the way we address it, head on,’ she told Elle UK.

In 2019, Cattrall explained why she would never walk in Samantha’s shoes again, saying: ‘It’s a “no” from me. You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun.’

And Just Like That is available to stream on NOW.
