Samantha Jones has returned to And Just Like That, but the reaction to her brief appearance has not been totally good.
Kim Cattrall, 67, reprised her role as the sex-positive PR in the second season finale.
Viewers didn’t have to wait long to see the fan favourite, as she emerged on screen 45 seconds after the programme began.
Samantha is sitting in the back of a cab, clothed in a tight red dress, a metallic jacket, and an enormous green clutch purse. A extremely expensive-looking diamond ring completes the appearance.
Kim’s return to the programme was contingent on her being dressed by Patricia Field, the original costume designer, and she surely delivered.
Instead of the actors being in the same room, Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, is on the phone with Samantha.
When Carrie’s phone starts ringing, she smiles broadly and asks, ‘Hello London. What’s shaking lady?’
This begins the pair’s one minute and ten second conversation.
Samantha tells Carrie that she is travelling from London to New York for her farewell dinner party at her flat.
‘My flight is three hours delayed Carrie, I won’t be able to make it there in time,’ she disappointedly stated.
Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis) aren’t in the scenes, but Samantha mentions that they told her about the dinner gathering.
When Carrie is shocked to learn she planned to fly in for less than 24 hours, she said: ‘Well it is your apartment and I have to pay my respects so put me on speaker. Go ahead, put me on speaker and hold up that phone.’
‘Thank you for everything you f*****g fabulous flat,’ she proclaimed.
Carrie asked: ‘Erm Samantha, do you have a British accent?’
‘Who’s Samantha, this is Annabelle Bronstein. I’m from Injah. Ta and cheerio. And have a great night.’
Fans of Sex and the City will recognise Annabelle as the name of the lady Samantha claimed to be in order to use the pool at Soho House.
And just like that… the conversation is over.
Fans have responded to the cameo on social media, and not everyone is pleased with the little appearance.
‘Damn the Samantha cameo on #AndJustLikeThat really was disappointing…….. glad to see her on the show tho all this time waiting tho had hoped for much more @KimCattrall @AndJustLikeThat knew she wouldn’t join but was hoping she’d do at least a few cameos in season 3,’ one frustrated view wrote.

Other people were just happy to see Samantha back, even if it was brief.
‘It may have been for less than a minute but it felt good to see Samantha back, even if you can tell it was an edit job to make it look like a conversation,’ wrote one pleased viewer.
Another satisfied customer penned: ‘Samantha Jones cameo was perfect and fabulous as Carrie would say’.

Carrie and Samantha, who is now residing in London, had a falling out in season one of the show, but there was a glimpse of optimism when the couple exchanged texts on the finale.
Kim previously decided not to return to Samantha after the second Sex and the City film because she did not want to compromise.
‘It’s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough,’ she told Variety. ‘I also didn’t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.’
