Matt Baker found his biggest cheerleader in Kylie Minogue as she backed his Rickshaw Challenge tonight.
The TV presenter was forced to move the Children In Need fundraising event to his back garden after a member of the crew tested positive for coronavirus.
Nobody seemed to be more proud than pop star Kylie, who appeared on The One Show and applauded a youngster who is taking part in the challenge.
‘You are so inspiring. Look, you’re cycling and talking!’ Kylie told Rosie.
‘I would be on the floor,’ the singer admitted before asking how Rosie was keeping motivated doing the challenge at home without leaving the house.
Kylie, 52, then presented her super fan with a signed copy of her new album Disco and encouraged donators: ‘The more miles, the more bucks. Congratulations to you and good luck.’
‘Go Team Rickshaw!’ Kylie excitedly cheered.
Over to Matt, who had been powering away on his bike since 5:30am, he said: ‘So many people donating so thank you… we’re doing our best just to keep this thing going. It’s 10 years now since the Rickshaw Challenge and I’m just delighted that we’re able to continue.’
All six members of the Rickshaw Challenge 2020 are aiming to give back and raise money having bravely fought a series of illnesses in their life, including bone cancer and autoimmune diseases.
However the event was almost thrown into chaos after a crew member tested positive for Covid-19.
BBC Children In Need said in a statement: ‘The safety of the young people on Team Rickshaw is of paramount importance.
‘As a precautionary measure, a decision has been made to send the young participants home from the challenge today.
‘The One Show team are currently exploring ways in which Matt Baker and Team Rickshaw can continue the challenge together safely from home.’
They continued: ‘Ahead of the challenge, following medical advice, a set of robust safety measures were put in place to minimise the risk of infection to all of those involved.’
‘On site the team was following government guidelines with strict social distancing measures enforced at all times and routine testing was scheduled several times throughout the challenge to ensure early detection and elimination of any Covid-19 cases.
‘During one of these routine tests, a positive result was confirmed amongst a member of the crew and immediate action was taken.’
The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One.
