Kym Marsh has addressed rumours that Hear’Say may be reuniting to celebrate 20 years of the band next year, after the band spent lockdown reconnecting over Zoom.

Appearing on The One Show, Kym revealed: ‘It’s been lockdown and everyone’s kind of been trying to reach out to people that maybe they haven’t spoken to in a while.

‘We have reconnected and we’ve had some wonderful Zoom chats reminiscing about old times and I’m not going to lie, we have talked about 20 years next year.

‘We were the first reality TV show of its kind and it would be silly for us not to kind of think about perhaps giving a nod to that, but there’s nothing set in stone, we have no idea but maybe.’

It comes after rumours the band had been ‘in talks’ to reunite next year, albeit without Myleene Klass after it was said she turned it down.

The band, who won ITV’s Popstars in 2001 are said to have a WhatsApp group set up by Kym and Myleene, and the pair secretly met with Suzanne Shaw, Noel Sullivan and Danny Foster before the second lockdown began.

A source told The Sun: ‘Right now, there’s a real demand for nostalgia and feel-good celebrity — and Hear’Say fit the bill.

‘The group exchanged a series of messages about a reunion, proposing a few tour dates and a couple of one-off TV appearances, as well as a possible ITV documentary.

‘But after much consideration, Myleene politely said that after a lot of thought she didn’t think the time was right for her.’

Myleene had previously told the Daily Mail that her kids had been asking for a Hear’Say reunion, adding: ‘It’s funny because at the stage that I am now – my children don’t even realise that I was in a band – well, Ava more so.

‘I’ve gone from, “No, never, it’s never going to happen”, to my children saying, “Go on, just do it! We want to be able to see you do all the dance moves!”‘

The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One.
