Kym Marsh returns to Morning Live after long break amid dad’s cancer battle

Morning Live viewers were delighted to see a familiar face returning to Morning Live today, with Kym Marsh back on the show after a long time away.

The 45-year-old said it was ‘so nice’ to be back on the programme after being welcomed by co-host Gethin Jones, having taken a long break after her father Dave, 76, was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer.

The former Coronation Street actress also recently got married to Scott Ratcliff on October 16, and the presenter looked back at her star-studded ceremony on Friday’s programme.

It comes after Kym was forced to pull out of Morning Live after testing positive for Covid-19 this summer, with It Takes Two star Janette Manrara taking her place.

Just a month earlier, Kym’s father was diagnosed with cancer after delaying a check-up due to the pandemic.

It’s been a tough time for Kim earlier this year, and the presenter and former Coronation Street star previously explained why she’d been absent from the BBC One show.

On Morning Live, earlier this month, Kym announced via video link: ‘You might have noticed I’ve not been around much since the end of July – well there’s been some very good reasons for that.

‘I think it’s fair to say the last few months have been ridiculously busy with one thing or another for me and my family.

She added: ‘I’ve been off for the last few weeks and one of the reasons for that is because I want to be here for my dad and I need to be here to support my family and it was absolutely the right choice to make.’

Just days after announcing her engagement over the summer, Kym heartbreakingly revealed her father’s diagnosis.

Kym and her husband to be then moved the wedding forward to ensure that her dad could walk her down the aisle.

Morning Live airs on weekdays at 9.15am on BBC One.
