Len Goodman slams ‘stupid’ Strictly Come Dancing judges over Ranvir Singh scores

Len Goodman has branded the Strictly Come Dancing judges ‘stupid’ for giving Ranvir Singh low scores before she was eliminated from the competition.

Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir seemed to be a favourite throughout the series but stumbled at the semi-final where she ended up in the bottom two with Jamie Laing before being booted off after the public vote.

Former Strictly judge Len believes Ranvir – and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice – deserved more and called out the judges for their lack of support.

Speaking to Ranvir’s GMB co-stars Charlotte Hawkins and Alex Beresford, Len said: ‘I’m glad you asked me. Ranvir throughout the whole series was fantastic.

‘Look at those stupid judges, what’s the matter with them? Sit down and bloomin’ get on with your judging.

‘Throughout the series, there’s always one dance that doesn’t suit you. Now if Ranvir had got that jive week two or week three, she would’ve gone through because there was so many others that weren’t so good.’

He added: ‘It was just rotten luck, she got the one dance that didn’t suit her on the most important semi-final. However, throughout the series she was terrific and I really commended her. She was one of my certainties to make the final.’

Charlotte previously criticised the elimination and defended her co-host to Lorraine Kelly, stating: ‘She claimed she had no dancing experience, but you take a look at that, she’s had this ballroom dancer inside her that’s been bursting to come out and she did phenomenally.

‘I think she was robbed, she should still be in there, it’s actually disgraceful.’

However, Ranvir was gracious about her defeat and said on It Takes Two: ‘I’ve had a little random tear every now and again.

‘It’s been amazing. The reaction has been so deep. The connection to people who have really invested in us and watching us. It’s actually been quite a beautiful thing to feel.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
