Les Dennis is said to have joined Strictly Come Dancing, exciting BBC executives in the process.
The 69-year-old Family Fortunes actor is speculated to be on this year’s lineup, which is also expected to include Thomas Skinner and Jill Scott.
After a close race against Helen Skelton and Fleur East, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Pryzstal won the glitterball award the previous year.
And now it’s being said that Les believes he has a chance.
One insider said: ‘The viewers are going to love Les.
‘He is a TV icon and now he will be dancing on one of the most popular shows around.’
The insider continued to The Mail on Sunday: ‘He might be about to turn 70 but he is a showman and he will be great entertainment for those watching at home.
‘There is genuine excitement about Les taking part.’
Les, who formerly wed Amanda Holden, is no stranger to dancing as he presently appears in the touring production of 42nd Street from the West End.
Angela Rippon, who will be the oldest participant ever, is rumoured to be joining the Celebrity Big Brother star.
25 years after she originally hosted the tournament, the 78-year-old has reportedly joined the line-up.
‘It is such a coup to get Angela. She was Mrs Come Dancing, so what a wonderful thing that she is going to be on Strictly all these years later,’ a source previously told The Mail on Sunday.
‘She is the dream signing. The audience at home will love her, and many of them will remember her from her days hosting the show in its previous incarnation.’
It is amazing that someone her age is doing it, but she enjoys dancing, and the executives believe that she will be entertaining to see, they said.
Former Love Island star Zara McDermott, former EastEnders actor Nigel Harman, and Jade Goody’s son, EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, are more celebrities said to be competing in Strictly this year.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year.
