Lilian Garcia is returning to WWE – sort of.
The iconic ring announcer – who was a huge part of Raw, SmackDown and other programming from 1999 until 2016 – has confirmed her Chasing Glory podcast is coming to the company’s streaming service starting on October 26.
Making the exciting announcement on Monday, she tweeted: ‘BREAKING NEWS!! It’s w great excitement & gratitude that I announce my return HOME to the @WWE! BUT in a very diff capacity….
‘I’m proud 2 announce that my show, #ChasingGlory will now appear on the WWE NETWORK!!! All begins Monday, October 26!! TY WWE Universe 4 all the love (sic)’
Over the past few years, Lilian’s guests have ranged from Stephanie McMahon and Melina to MVP and Renee Young.
The news has gone down well with fans and fellow superstars, with Natalya amongst those to respond on social media.
She tweeted: ‘Congrats Lil! This is awesome!! (sic)’
And Raw wrestler Dana Brooke wrote: ‘Congrats ! This is truly amazing & the best !!
‘#chasingglory really made me be able to open up and connect with many people ! Thank you so much .. & congrats ! This is amazing (sic)’
Lilian’s departure in 2016 came as she stepped away from continue for her father during his cancer battle, and he sadly died on Christmas Day that year – just four months after she left.
She has made a number of one off appearances over the years, including serving as ring announcer for the Mae Young Classic finals in September 2017.
Five months later, she was honoured during the Raw 25 Years special, and the company brought her back to introduce the contestants for the first ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal at the 2018 show.
Later that year, she was back once again for Evolution – WWE’s first ever all women pay-per-view – in a very fitting moment, and in 2019 she made another special appearance on Raw.
