Linda Nolan has provided an update on her cancer diagnosis after thinking she may not be able to celebrate Christmas this year.
The Nolans Sisters vocalist, 64, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, followed by pelvic cancer in 2017.
She stated in March of this year that the cancer had gone to her brain, prompting claims that her family was ‘preparing for the worst’.
However, she’s now had some more positive news to share, telling Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard on Good Morning Britain: ‘When I spoke to you before, I didn’t think I’d make Christmas.
‘I was hoping to make the birth of my nephew who was born at the end of July, and I was thinking, “Oh, how many more milestones will I make?”
‘At the moment, I feel good.’
She also stated that she is in some discomfort but has continued to move in accordance with her doctor’s directions.
‘I just thought, how lucky I am to be able, after nine months and getting the worst possible news, having a great time with my sisters.’
Linda explained that her tumours have now shrunk a little and not spread, and she feels ‘amazing’, continuing: ‘I wake up and think another day to make memories, I don’t wake up thinking it’s another day closer.
‘And that helps me, sometimes I have to drag myself out of bed because lying there just makes it worse, you dip down into depression.’
Linda’s husband, Brian, died of skin cancer in 2007, and vocalist Bernie died of breast cancer in July 2013, at the age of 53.
Coleen had carcinoma and melanoma earlier this year after attending to the doctor for ‘tiny areas’ on her skin that she assumed were eczema.
Following her announcement, the 58-year-old was showered with love and support, prompting many other people to check their own skin changes, but Coleen admitted she became ’embarrassed’ by the reaction because what she has is ‘nothing’ compared to what Linda is going through.
‘It kind of went a bit mad when I mentioned it. And then I felt embarrassed,’ she said.
‘Because in the grand scheme of things of what people are going through, including my sister, who now has brain cancer. It was just all a bit too dramatic for me. I was like “guys, this is absolutely fine.”
‘There’s definitely a positive [in that other people got checked out after her announcement] but I felt embarrassed because people were being so lovely. I mean, they would message me going “I’m praying for you and I’m so sorry,” and I’m thinking “just keep praying for my sister because she’s got brain cancer.”
‘I’m so in awe of my sister, I’m in awe of everyone I’ve seen going through this,’ she added.
