Alexa’s been talking note of Ryan Pilkington’s warning in Line of Duty (Picture: BBC)
After the latest Line of Duty episode we all know what happens to a rat, and even Alexa is up to date and well aware of what awaits if you grass to AC-12.
During Sunday night’s instalment from series six, lawyer Jimmy Lakewell (Patrick Baladi) made a brief return to Line of Duty when AC-12 turned to him for vital information in the hunt to find Gail Vella’s killer.
He was promised immediate release from prison if he spilled everything he knew about an investigation the journalist was working on when she died.
However, after a blistering shootout, it became clear Jimmy would never truly escape the clutches of the OCG (Organised Crime Group) and backed out of offering AC-12 any information, giving up his get out of jail free card.
Regardless, as he returned to his cell, he was strangled to death because ‘that’s what happens to a rat’.
Later, the chilling Ryan Pilkington (Gregory Piper) informed DCI Jo Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) of Jimmy’s death, and when she asked how he died, the merciless young copper told her: ‘He was a rat, ma’am.’
Alexa has seemingly been watching Line of Duty along with the rest of us, and if you think she’ll tell you who the final piece to the agonising puzzle that is ‘H’ will be, you’re kidding yourself. But you will get this..
Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio shared a tweet from a fan, who filmed themselves asking Alexa the question we’re all gagging to find an answer to: ‘Who is H?’
Her response: ‘Mother of God, I can’t tell you that. Those bent coppers will have me bumped off.’
She’s not wrong.
In the next Line of Duty instalment, the icy DCI Patricia Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin) will make a return, which is bad news for Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) following news AC-12 will be disbanded and he’s being forced into early retirement.
Line of Duty continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
