Line Of Duty star Nigel Boyle reveals cast is keen for series 7 after finale exposes H

*Warning: Line Of Duty series 6 finale spoilers ahead*

Line Of Duty’s Nigel Boyle has revealed the cast of the acclaimed BBC show is keen to return for a season 7 after his character Ian Buckells was revealed to be H in the series 6 finale.

The last episode also left the future of anti-corruption unit AC-12 hanging in the balance and it currently remains up in the air as to whether Vicky McClure’s Kate Fleming, Martin Compston’s Steve Arnott and Adrian Dunbar’s Ted Hastings will be coming back.

Nigel joined Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes on today’s This Morning where he was grilled on the future of Jed Mercurio’s drama.

‘I suppose really, it can’t just be you,’ Phil said, before probing: ‘Is that the end of it or is there more?’

‘Well, obviously that’s a question for an officer at least one rank higher,’ Nigel responded, with a nod to the show.

‘No comment. I don’t want Jed serving me with a Reg 15, do I? But I don’t know!’

Phil then tried: ‘If you were a viewer, what would you want?’

‘Don’t forget, we’re all fans of the show as well,’ Nigel replied. ‘Of course, we want another one.’

Nigel’s comments come after the BBC’s chief content officer said she was excited to discuss the future of Line Of Duty.

In response to the drama’s record-breaking figures, Charlotte Moore said: ‘Addictive event television, Line Of Duty has kept the nation guessing for the last seven weeks, so it’s no surprise that last night’s jaw-dropping finale set a ratings record.

‘Jed Mercurio is a master of his craft, and I would like to congratulate him and the entire cast and crew for delivering such an incredible drama series. I’m looking forward to having a conversation with the team about where we go next and what the future of the series might be.’

Line Of Duty is available to stream on catch-up on BBC iPlayer and This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
