Line Of Duty star Anna Maxwell Martin was left in fits of giggles as she was confronted over fan theories ahead of the series 6 finale.
The actress, who plays the cold and callous DCS Carmichael on the crime drama, appeared on This Morning to talk about the latest development of the investigations of AC-12.
However, she wasn’t prepared for superfan Phillip Schofield to be armed with theories that suggest she could be the elusive ‘H’ that has been manipulating the force for years.
On Sunday night’s episode, during a hefty 20-minute interrogation scene, viewers thought they saw a massive red flag after Carmichael tapped her pen four times out of frustration.
The four taps is not only morse code for H, but also the final movements of bent copper ‘Dot’ Cottan, who died in season three trying to reveal the name of who he worked for in the OCG (Organised Crime Group).
But Anna wasn’t giving anything away, and when put on the spot about the scene just burst out laughing rather than say anything.

‘Don’t claim to me you don’t remember this moment!’ Phillip told her, sending Anna into fits of giggles as she told him he was being ‘very aggressive’.
Showing the clip, Phillip yelled at her: ‘That’s H! That’s H in morse code!’
‘I think I was just bored,’ Anna responded. ‘Those scenes are very long. I think I was just like “what am I saying next?”‘

‘Yeah, yeah, yeah,’ Phillip dismissed, with Holly saying that she was ‘such a brilliant actress she could be pulling the wool over their eyes’.
Guess we’ll find out next week.
Speaking about her time on the series, Anna said that she felt that Carmichael – one of the most hated characters on the show due to her vicious attempts to take down AC-12 – was possibly nicer than she seems.
‘I think she’s misunderstood,’ she said. ‘She’s just trying to do her job, isn’t she? She probably just wants a nice cuddle. She’s just a bit cross.’
‘Of course she’s [insecure]. All those people, you’ve got no idea what’s going on at Pat’s house, she could be going through all sorts,’ she added.
‘She’s a bit of a power freak, isn’t she? I suppose.’
