Warning: spoilers ahead for Loki episode 6.

Loki viewers have been left devastated by a cruel twist concerning Mobius M Mobius (Owen Wilson) in the episode 6 finale on Disney Plus, with Marvel fans saying they’re in ‘pain’.

At the end of the MCU show’s season one finale, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is transported back to the TVA (Time Variance Authority) by Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino).

Loki rushes to TVA agent Mobius that Sylvie has decided to kill the head of the TVA, known as ‘He Who Remains’ (Jonathan Majors), who appears to be a variant of Marvel comic book character Kang the Conqueror.

However, as Loki frantically tries to warn Mobius and Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) about the danger they’re in, Mobius appears puzzled, before asking Loki who he is.

Having developed a friendship over the course of the series, it’s revealed that Mobius no longer remembers who Loki is.

This revelation sent shockwaves through the MCU fandom, with fans saying they’re ‘sobbing’ over the fact that Mobius has no recollection of Loki’s identity or the bond they share.

‘Me realizing #Loki was probably so relieved to see #Mobius only for him to not know him,’ one person tweeted.

‘When Mobius doesn’t recognise Loki… Pain,’ another remarked.

Now that season two of Loki has officially been confirmed, one viewer speculated that Loki will strive to jog Mobius’ memory in the future.

‘Loki will possibly NEVER trust Sylvie again, the only one he’s got is Mobius and he will do his best to make Mobius remember him again,’ they predicted.

Loki has been on a transformative journey throughout his series, having started where the first Avengers film left off with his defeat at the Battle of New York.

Throughout the six-episode arc, Loki has gone from being hellbent on seeking power to gaining a greater appreciation for himself and those around him, particularly Sylvie.

Having begun as Mobius’ prisoner, Loki came to trust and admire the jetski-loving TVA agent, which makes the episode six twist that much more agonising.

Will Mobius ever remember who Loki is? Or will they have to start their friendship from scratch all over again?

Season one of Loki is available to watch on Disney Plus.
