Loose Women almost thrown into chaos as manic pre-show rehearsal leaves panel fearing broadcast won’t go ahead

Loose Women was hit by chaos on Thursday morning as a pre-show rehearsal had the panel fearing the episode wouldn’t be able to go ahead.

It’s safe to say things didn’t exactly run smoothly in the team’s morning meeting, with nobody showing up on time and only Denise Welch making it to the studio.

At the beginning of Thursday’s show Denise confessed that she ‘didn’t think today was going to happen,’ as the panel was left in a fit of giggles over their chaotic morning.

Prior to going live on air, the panel usually has a run through of the show’s agenda, but in this case said meeting was thrown up into the air due to a ‘comedy of errors’.

Filling in viewers, Denise explained: ‘Normally, I rush in flustered and you’re all there in the middle of the meeting and I got there [today], flustered, rushing in and there was nobody there.

‘Kaye [Adams] was on a sleeper train from Scotland in the middle of nowhere, Judi [Love] was doing the school run and in a car park trying to do a zoom meeting.

‘Nadia [Sawalha] was on a train, it was like a comedy of errors. I was wearing no make-up and our lovely producer Tom did a little video of the chaos.’

In the short clip, Denise could be seen sat on her own backstage while a slew of technical errors trying to connect the rest of the panel played out on a big screen.

‘I really thought today wasn’t going to happen,’ Denise joked, as Nadia revealed her poor taxi driver had to listen to her talking about penises.

One item on Thursday’s show was a debate around contraception, with Nadia revealing: ‘I was straight into willies and I couldn’t believe it… poor man, I just met him.’

She joked: ‘As he dropped me off at the studio, he said, “I think it’s going to be quite an interesting show.”‘

Luckily for viewers at home, the team all made it to the studio in time and Thursday’s show was able to go ahead without a hitch, unlike rehearsals.

The panel welcomed Denise back into the studio after she has spent some time away caring for her dad, Vin Welch, after he suffered complications to his health following gallbladder removal surgery.

He endured months of no appetite and extreme weight loss, but sharing an update on her dad’s condition Denise explained that he is now doing ‘much better’.

She revealed it had been an ‘incredibly stressful’ time for her family, but her dad has since put on a stone after upping his calorie intake, as she joked he was recently back to his usual self having a ‘Pimm’s and a cigar’ at a family wedding.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
