Loose Women has been praised by audiences today for having an all-Black presenting line-up.

Charlene White, Brenda Edwards, Kelle Bryan and Judi Love hosted the ITV show this afternoon, where they discussed who is responsible for feeding the nation’s children, whether it’s a good idea to show off your love online, and are you ever too old for sexy dancing.

They were also joined by Baroness Doreen Lawrence OBE to talk about her son Stephen Lawrence’s legacy.

Viewers were quick to applaud Loose Women for the move – which has happened during Black History Month – and shared their thanks on social media.

‘So refreshing to turn my telly on and see four beautiful black women running the show. Things have a long way to go but this is a great start. Never in my life have I seen this happen on a major network,’ wrote one.

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘My heart could burst today seeing an all-black Loose Women panel. The pride I feel in seeing these women representing people like me on a show that has predominantly been white women. Feels truly like a moment in history. Thank you ITV.’

During the show, Baroness Doreen talked about how Stephen’s legacy has evolved since his murder in 1999.

‘If you were to look at the history of the time Stephen died to now, it’s been constantly challenging, having to step up each time you feel something’s not right,’ Doreen told the panel.

‘Without Stephen, as a person of his courage, that’s helped me. He was such an important part within our family, we wanted to make sure Stephen’s legacy continues.

‘It’s a legacy that young people can identify with. Having a Foundation and what we’re trying to do within education, communities, businesses, that is a way to move forward in 2021 with all our young people.’

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
