Loose Women confirms Andrea McLean’s final episode after 13 years on show

Loose Women has confirmed when Andrea McLean will be leaving after 13 years on the panel.

The presenter, 51, announced her departure in November, explaining that she wanted to try new things.

During Thursday’s episode an advert revealed Andrea’s last episode would be Wednesday December 16.

Set to Goodbye by the Spice Girls, clips of Andrea’s fun-filled time as a Loose Woman were shown.

Host Ruth Langsford announced: ‘On Wednesday’s show we say farewell to a Loose legend after 13 years, over 1400 shows and uncountable memories.

‘It’s Andrea’s last Loose appearance so join us for a show packed full of surprises for the send off she deserves.’

The TV star has also been part of ITV Daytime for 23 years.

Her initial announcement on the November 30 episode was emotional as she immediately began to tear up while breaking the news.

‘You get one life. Are you living it the way that you want and are you doing everything that you want to do? Are you taking chances? And I realised, no,’ Andrea shared before breaking down.

Adding that she wasn’t leaving TV completely, she explained: ‘You just never know unless you try.

‘I’m gonna put myself out there, see what the universe has in store, help as many women as I possibly can, in whatever way that means, and all the love and effort that I’m putting into that.’

She also detailed how suffering a breakdown last year contributed to her decision to leave.

‘As you know I had a really rough year last year, and I think that anyone who has experienced any kind of mental distress – I had a breakdown last year – and then obviously we had a global pandemic, you stop and think about your life,’ she said.

She added that while many are keen for life to ‘go back to as it was’ before the pandemic hit, for Andrea it would mean ‘going backward’ to a difficult 2019.

‘You’re actually going backwards if you want everything to be exactly as it was and I want to look forward.

‘So how do I want my life to be? And I realised, actually, I need to be brave, I need to make bold steps.’

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
