Charlene White revealed on today’s Loose Women that she has a surprising connection to Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya.
Speaking on the Loose Women panel, the TV presenter said she has known Daniel for decades.
She shared the news when they were talking about his recent best-supporting actor Oscar win for the film Judas and the Black Messiah.
‘I’ve known Dan for almost 20 years and I’m really really proud of him,’ the 40-year-old told the panel.
‘He posted online last night that he’s just a boy from an estate in London and he’s now an Oscar winner. He’s actually the first Black British actor to walk away with an Oscar gong.
‘I’m so happy … I’m very very proud of Dan and I highly recommend you go see Judas and the Black Messiah.’

This isn’t the first time the host has spoken about her connection to the Hollywood star.
In 2018 when Daniel was nominated for an Oscar in the best actor category for the movie Get Out, she tweeted her support.
Charlene wrote: ‘I’m behind on posting this, but I’m so proud of Daniel Kaluuya for his Oscar nomination. He’s not Eton, he’s not Oxbridge, his fam don’t work “in the biz”. I’ve worked with him, I’ve partied with him. He is and always will be one of us. Dan I salute you x’
Charlene said on the show this afternoon that Daniel has ‘always been a jokester’, which rang true when he made a cheeky comment in his Oscar’s acceptance speech.
The star took to the stage in Los Angeles to accept the award and in doing so he gave a special shout-out to those that brought him into the world.
Bringing the house down, he told those in the room they had work to do – reflecting on the work of Fred Hampton, former chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, who he portrays in the film.
‘I look to every single one of you. You got work to do,’ he said. ‘I’m gonna get back to work…Tuesday morning. Because tonight I’m going out!’
Reflecting on how special the moment was, he turned his attention to his family, who were watching from the UK.
‘We got to celebrate life, we’re walking, we’re breathing, it’s incredible,’ he said.
‘My mum met my dad, they had sex! I’m so lucky to be alive, so I’m going to celebrate that.’
The camera then turned to his family, with some believing his mother said: ‘What is he talking about?’
Elsewhere in his speech Daniel paid tribute to Hampton, saying: ‘What a man. How blessed we are that we lived in a lifetime when he existed, thank you for your life, he was on this earth for 21 years and he found a way to feed kids, educate kids, give free medical care against all odds…’
He finished his powerful speech with: ‘Peace, love and onwards we go again.’
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
