According to reports, two of Loose Women’s top stars have fallen out with ITV.
Jane Moore began working on the afternoon show in 1999, while Janet Street-Porter has been with the show for almost a decade, since 2011.
However, it has been stated that both presenters are presently at conflict with the network due to a disagreement over their tax status.
These charges come after Carol McGiffin abruptly left the series last year due to a contract disagreement.
According to MailOnline, Jane and Janet have informed ITV bosses that they won’t be returning to their roles on Loose Women after they were asked to sign contracts saying that they were permanent employees of the broadcaster, as opposed to freelance journalists.
However, we believe that Jane will return to the Loose Women panel shortly, while Janet appeared on the show in January of this year.
A source told the publication: ‘Jane and Janet are furious. They have done such a lot for that show and they love it – but… they do different work across different companies and, as journalists, value their independent status.
‘Things have got pretty tense. If it carries on, there might be a big change to the line-up.’
The argument is claimed to have revolved over ITV’s new PAYE-only contracts policy, which was implemented in response to HMRC’s (HM Revenue & Customs) guidelines regarding off-payroll work.
These guidelines state that freelancers should pay about the same amount of income tax and national insurance as employees.
According to insiders, the ITV actors’ contracts do not include vacation, sick pay, or a pension.
They are also thought to hinder people from seeking certain job prospects.
In a statement, an ITV spokesperson said: ‘We don’t comment on individual cases but ITV ensures that it complies with and follows all HMRC guidance and legislation.’
When Carol quit Loose Women last year, she accused the programme of ‘forcing woke views down people’s throats’.
Appearing on GB News to address her absence from the show, she said: ‘Well put it this way, reading all the comments from the article at the weekend there are a lot of people who think the programme has gone very, very woke.’
She continued: ‘You just don’t have to keep forcing this stuff down peoples’ throats. It’s not just ITV, the BBC is probably worse actually.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
