Nadia Sawalha was astonished when she realised she had ‘violated the law many times’.
The Loose Women panellist, 59, was about to go for a vacation this week when she realised she had avoided punishment on many times despite her acts.
She shared a video from the airport on social media, explaining what she’d seen.
‘I’m just at the airport and have realised I have broken the law multiple times,’ she began.
‘Could have faced the f***ing courts…and what you don’t realise is you have too.
‘I mean, what the f***,’ she added before moving out of the frame to reveal a warning sign.
The poster from Sussex Police showed glasses of alcohol and read: ‘It is an offence for you to get on and be on an aircraft when drunk.’
Captioning the post she added: ‘I had no idea this was illegal?? Did you? When did they make this illegal???’
Many people also seemed shocked by the revelation.
‘Guilty as charged,’ Bev B commented.
‘Holy moly I had no idea it was illegal,’ Susan shared.
‘I’m so terrified of flying I HAVE to have a few drinks beforehand!’ Liz added.
However, some made it a point to explain why these laws were in place.
‘Plenty of idiots ruin it by sneaking on their own booze getting smashed and causing problems for the staff and public it’s a good think drunken idiots are annoying as hell on a flight,’ Claire wrote.
‘Tipsy drink is fine, nasty drunk isn’t,’ Sarah commented.
Meanwhile ex-flight attendant Amy shared: ‘As ex cabin crew who had to deal with plenty of out of control passengers in my time, it’s for the safety of you and everyone around you. People actually mad on planes as it is. Alcohol is not the answer.’
Although it is commonly known that cabin crew have the authority to refuse to serve any passenger alcohol at their discretion, if the situation escalates, offenders can face a maximum punishment of two years in prison or a fine of £80,000, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
