Linda Robson has revealed that she had a recent scare when she went on a drive as she feared she had broken lockdown rules when she came across police.
On today’s edition of Loose Women, Linda and her fellow panelists spoke about the toll lockdown has been having on many women who have been taking on a huge amount of responsibilities at home.
Linda, 62, told them how her daughter, Lauren, has been working part-time in a nursery for children with special needs as of late, so she has been helping to take care of her grandchildren as part of their ‘childcare bubble’.
The TV presenter said that last Saturday, she was at home alone while everyone was out, as her husband Mark was working at a Covid centre and Lauren had taken the children out for a walk.
‘So I thought, what do I do? I thought I know, I’ll just get in the car and go for a little drive. So I just drove around my area, and then I thought I’ll drive around Regent’s Park and I might have a little walk while I’m there,’ she said.
However, when Linda returned to her car after her walk, she spotted a couple of police officers and suddenly feared that she might be in breach of Covid regulations.
‘As I got back into the car after my walk, I was driving and I could see two policemen and a police van there. So I thought, “Oh no, am I supposed to be in this area? Am I allowed to be out? I don’t know what I’m supposed to do”,’ she stated.
While this played on her mind, Linda said that she pulled over her car, which she believes may have made her seem ‘dodgy’ to the police.
When she did drive past the police, Linda implied that they gestured to her to pull over, with one of the officers telling her that she was driving at 23 miles per hour in a 20 zone.
She said that they informed her that the speed limit had only just recently changed in the area, so not to worry about it.
At this point, apparently feeling a lot calmer, Linda had a joke with the policeman when he asked what her name was.
When she responded: ‘Barbra Streisand’, he replied: ‘I don’t think so Linda,’ she recollected, prompting the rest of the Loose Women panel to burst into laughter.
The lockdown rules in England stipulate that ‘you must not leave, or be outside of your home except where necessary’.
The government states that members of the public can exercise outside of their home once a day, with their households, support bubbles or one other person, and that they should not travel further than their local areas.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
