Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha is worried she might never get to hug her parents again because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The presenter joined Ruth Langsford, Linda Robson and Janet Street-Porter on today’s show where they discussed the news that a vaccination has been found and could be rolled out in just a matter of months.

Nadia, however, expressed her concern about how Covid-19 will impact her life once the world gets back to ‘normal’.

Speaking from her home, she confessed: ‘I’m so brainwashed now, will I ever really freely hug my parents again?’

Nadia’s dad Nadim and her mum Bobbie are both in their 80s and would come in second place on the vaccine priority list.

Elderly care home residents and the workers who look after them are top of a provisional list by the Government’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.

This is hardly surprising, given the rate at which coronavirus has ripped through retirement homes, with more than 16,000 deaths in England and Wales since the start of the outbreak.

Elsewhere on today’s show, Ruth expressed how tough she has found being away from her mum, who is in a care home.

‘It’s been a long long time for them, it’s been very difficult.’

Meanwhile, Janet suggested that one person for every resident in a care home should be prioritised for the vaccine.

Explaining her rationale, Janet said: ‘So every person has one person who has been vaccinated who can touch them and hug them because I can’t take any more images of people being carted away because they’ve tried to remove their relatives, or people breaking down in the gardens. It’s heartbreaking.’

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
