Lord Alan Sugar has given an update on Claude Littner’s health, after the Apprentice star suffered a horror accident.
The businessman, 72, has been replaced for the upcoming series of the BBC competition after he had a nasty fall from his electric bike in April.
He was forced to learn how to walk again following a string of gruelling surgeries.
Appearing on this morning’s Lorraine, Lord Sugar offered an update on how his pal is doing.
‘He’s doing very, very well,’ he told Lorraine Kelly. ‘He’s gone through a terrible experience. I’ve lost count of the operations that he’s had.
‘The irony of it is he was simply going out on a ride on his bike. Not racing, not going fast or anything like that, just doing eight or nine miles an hour [and] came off. Horrific accident.

‘He’s so upset that he couldn’t join this series but he’s doing alright. We talk every couple of days.
‘I think he’s going in for a biggie, a six-hour one this week or next week, which is hopefully the final operation.’
Lord Sugar also opened up about Tim Campbell, who is briefly taking Claude’s place for the new series, which is due on our screens next year.
The star is no stranger to the infamous boardroom as he took part in the very first season, in 2005, where he beat out all other stars to win the competition.

This time he’ll be on the other side of the table, and offering his expert advice.
The mogul continued: ‘Tim’s in, who better to replace Claude is somebody who has been there from the very beginning?
‘Obviously the candidates, while sympathetic that Claude was not here this year, I guess must have secretly thought, “Oh, thank God for that!” Then I said, “No, don’t think you’re onto a good thing because I’ve got a chap here who knows it all, been there, seen it, done it.” In comes Tim Campbell.’
We can’t wait to tune in for that reveal.
Claude opened up about his ordeal recently, vowing that he will make a full recovery.
‘I was just pottering along, I must have been doing no more than 10 kilometres an hour on this sort of two-track road,’ he told PA. ‘The next thing I knew, I was on the left hand side of the street, my bike was in the middle of the road and I didn’t know what happened.
‘I suspect I hit a pothole or something like that, but I must have blanked out at the moment of impact, because the next thing I knew, I was lying on the ground.’
He was rushed to hospital with doctors able to save his leg – and has been working hard on his recovery ever since.
Claude insisted he will be returning to the Apprentice as soon as he is able.
Lorraine continues on weekday mornings, at 9am, on ITV.
