Lorraine Kelly mused over why Adele didn’t opt for a simpler production after she postponed her Las Vegas residency and stated her show ‘ain’t ready’.
The Easy On Me hitmaker, 33, shared a tearful apology on social media last Thursday and told her followers that ‘half her team have come down with Covid,’ but the global star managed to FaceTime 50 stunned fans to say sorry again.
During Monday’s edition of her titular show, the 62-year-old presenter said the sweet act was a ‘really lovely thing to do,’ but later proposed a different alternative for the multi-award winning songwriter.
‘I think the thing though that most fans were just so disappointed, was the lack of notice,’ said Lorraine.
‘You know just being 24 hours, and the fact that they just wanted to hear her sing.’
‘I just wondered if there was no way she could have just got a piano and just sang?’ she asked showbiz correspondent Ross King.
‘I spoke to my sources in Vegas and they were not in shock at all that this happened,’ Ross replied.
‘They’ve seen it coming for a few days and said that it wasn’t a shock. Production’s been in a little bit of trouble, there’s been behind the scenes clashes with Adele and the designer with Caesars Palace as well.
‘You and I know that Adele could just sing with a piano and it would be absolutely brilliant but of course, she’s in Vegas, it’s Caesars Palace, they put on big shows, and they wanted it to be a big show,’ he added.
Adele was due to perform two shows a weekend until April 16, with tickets, naturally, selling out in minutes.
The residency had been due to begin on January 21, 2022 and Adele was scheduled to play two shows per weekend until April 16, 2022.
While some fans sympathised with the performer, some were devastated over the last-minute cancellation, and Supernanny Jo Frost even reached out and said: ‘Adele WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC everything is a moving target even for professionals like yourself and many an unpredictable situation with so many impossibles & possibles, which is frustrating for many.
‘No doubt your fans will appreciate your leadership in reaching out sincerely but honestly those who really don’t understand are in denial of the realities of how difficult things are right now on every level.’
She continued: ‘Now go get some sleep, have a hot bath and a glass of cold Sancerre seriously before I put you on the naughty step! Big hugs Jo aka Supernanny xx.’
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9.00pm on ITV
