Lorraine Kelly sobs over adorable message from mum she ‘hasn’t seen in ages’

Lorraine Kelly wept as she received a very special message from her mum who she hasn’t seen in ‘ages’ during the Christmas episode of her titular chat show.

The 61-year-old was moved to tears as she was surprised with a clip of her mum, Anne.

‘I hope you all have a really good time and I look forward to seeing you soon,’ Anne said. ‘As soon as possible anyway. Ok?

‘Have a great time, bye.’

The short and sweet clip caused Lorraine to wipe away her tears.

‘I wish I could see them, it’s terrible isn’t it? I haven’t seen her for ages,’ she told Dr Hilary Jones and fashion expert Mark Heyes.

‘Everybody is the same though. Zoom calls galore today.

‘We will see each other. It’s like we keep saying.

‘We have to scale it down for this year but wow are we going to make up for it next year?

‘My wee mum, that was so lovely.’

Also on today’s programme, which was filmed before December 25, Great British Bake Off judge Matt Lucas talked about filming the series in a pandemic for his first ever stint in the tent.

‘It is a dream job and again it was another bright spot for me, that I got to join this big bubble and eat lots of cakes, far too many cakes…it’s so much fun to do,’ he enthused.

‘The bakers are lovely. They are the stars of the show. It was just great to make loads of new friends.’

And Kylie Minogue popped up for a quick chat as she revealed her Christmas plans in London where she’ll be enjoying the day with her new boyfriend, Paul Solomons.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
