Love Island 2021: Laura Whitmore gives first tour around revamped Majorcan villa ahead of new series

Love Island’s Laura Whitmore has given her first tour around the Majorcan villa ahead of the new 2021 series.

The luxury escape, which is situated in the east of the island, in a small town called Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, will open its doors to 11 singletons on Monday night.

Bosses have given the villa a makeover since it was last open for business in 2019, with cheeky revamped headboards in the bedrooms to new neon lights.

The Hideaway, which is where contestants can go to get some privacy from the rest of the group, also boasts of new secret drawers, while the lounge is now home to the dog house, where islanders can rest their heads if they’ve been mugged off.

Elsewhere, the bathroom is fully stocked and ready for action with lotions and hair products galore and the dressing room is the cleanest it will look before the girls come and take it over.

The swing seat is back, gearing up for those important heart-to-hearts, while the terrace and the fire pit are also back.

Of course, the pool is ready for the islanders to take a dip and cool off and the gym has been stocked with an array of weights.

Earlier this week, Love Island released the official opening scene of this year’s impending series, with the 11 islanders making their way to the villa.

The video arrived just days after ITV announced new duty of care protocols for contestants, offering them ‘comprehensive psychological support’, training on the impact of social media, ‘financial management’ training and ‘a proactive aftercare package’.

The new series is set to welcome the first disabled cast member in Hugo Hammond, a 24-year-old PE teacher from Hampshire who was born with club foot.

Hugo said he considers himself ‘not a disabled person, but just a person who has a disability’.

‘If I can set a great example and show people that having a disability doesn’t mean you can’t be mainstream or it doesn’t mean that I don’t have a right to find love and things like that, then that would be great and I would love to be the torch bearer for that,’ he said.

He added: ‘I’m very lucky that I had very supportive parents growing up and they kind of got all my operations done at an early age, so to be honest I don’t really remember it that much.’

A series overview from ITV reads: ‘More texts, fire pit gatherings and challenges await the lovestruck Islanders, meaning there’ll be plenty for them to dish the dirt on in the Beach Hut.

Love Island was the most watched show on any digital channel in 2020 and as it returns there’ll be lots of twists and turns along the way, with shock recouplings, unexpected splits and dramatic exits.

‘As the pairs attempt to win the hearts of each other – and the nation – one couple will ultimately triumph and be crowned Love Island winners 2021.’

Love Island returns on Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
