Love Island 2021 set to be ‘biggest show in history’ as ‘bosses prepare to splurge’

Love Island 2021 is gearing up to be the ‘biggest show’ in its history and bosses are said to be preparing to splash the big bucks to make sure it will go ahead.

The ITV2 reality show was cancelled last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, it’s been reported that producers are going all out to ensure its return.

‘Everyone is keen to make this happen,’ an insider said. ‘Strictly and Dancing On Ice have happened against the odds and they’re determined that Love Island can do the same.’

The TV source continued to Daily Star: ‘Producers are aware that international travel will still be restricted, so they are having to plan around that.

‘It is likely they will need to quarantine all contestants.

‘They also think they’ll need to fly over three times as many contestants than normal in case some of them fall ill.’

Casting more singletons and keeping them in different hotels will be expensive and will no doubt push costs up.

‘Discussions around the budget are happening,’ the insider added. ‘It’s definitely going to be the biggest in show history.’

Iain Stirling, who serves as the Love Island voiceover, told that relocating the series to the UK could be an option this year.

‘Let’s see what happens,’ he said. ‘I’ve no idea, but it could be quite amusing seeing Love Island contestants embracing the beaches of Bognor Regis at some point.

‘When they can’t eat their dinner because seagulls are taking it off the plate…  it could mix it up.’

Love Island is available for catch-up on the ITV Hub.
